This week of History of Photography we looked at Pictorialism and how this movement came about at the time when cameras and film were becoming available to everyone. Please make sure you read Edward Weston's "Seeing Photographically" and the chapter on Pictorialism by Joel Eisinger. What were the debates (science vs art) about and how are they relevant today? Do you think the advent of digital photography created similar debates regarding who is professional and who is amateur?
